You've Won!

An interesting way to start of my day... just a few minutes ago I got off the phone with people claiming that I'd won a travel package that included things like Disney Land passes, a Bahamas cruise, and a stay at a beach resort somewhere in Florida. I was sceptical from the beginning, because I'm not an idiot, but since I'd entered a bunch of random contest things in the summer I figured I might as well listen. When he "Richardo" started telling me about how I had seven days free for a rental car I was wondering why he hadn't asked how old I was. Aso, he said that I would have to provide my own travel down there. Um okaaaay.
They told me that I would have my package sent over email once I'd gotten a "confirmation number". Okay fine. But, when he started asking for my credit card number I was like "Okay look, I'm not giving you my credit card number". I told him that I wanted some sort of proof that the company was legit, or if he would just send me the info and I could give the number to him later (This was now another guy named "Charles" or something). He just kept saying "everything will be guaranteed through your visa" and "now, tell me the numbers in groups of four" and such. I asked him what the company was called and "RCI Resorts and Cruises International" was what I got, though he wouldn't give me a website address. When he wouldn't give me the address for their "site" I just decided to hang up.
Morons. They of course called back. Lol, my mom picked up the phone and when they asked for me she said "No, I'm her mother, and she is not allowed to travel alone". Technically, they had said that it was a trip for two-ish and that my boyfriend could come, details details.
Now, not all phone calls about winning things are illegitimate, but if you haven't signed up for something, there's a good chance that it's just a scam.
I can say this because I actually did win something! Like I said, during the summer I entered a bunch of contests/sweepstakes blah blah blah. But, in...hm...September? my mom got a call while I was on the bus to school. They got her to answer a "skill testing question" (always a good sign), which was some math problem that you have to answer un-aided. (technically, even if you get it wrong they're supped to 'help' you with the answer...lol.) The reason that they do skill-testing questions is because if they give out free money it's considered a 'lottery', which falls under different rules and cannot be won by anyone underage.
I should probably tell you what I won eh? Lol. I won a $1000.00 back to school shopping spree from West 49. Even better, it was in the form of a gift card! which I didn't know until it arrived at my doorstep in mid October.
I don't shop like...ever, and when I do it's at thrift stores (I'll probably write about my love of thrift stores at another time). Anyway, I don't usually shop at stores like this. And, surprise surprise, they have decent clothing for females! I used this money to buy some Christmas presents too. Like, shoes for my brothers, a hoodie for my mom, etc. Each about eighty bucks, which, when it's free money..heck!
I currently have about $100 left on the card. The stuff there is kind of expensive and right now I'm buying mostly outerwear (which is more pricey anyway).
I might as well say what I bought with this money: let me think...
Two pull-over hoodies, a teeshirt (it was on sale, lol), a strapless shirt thing, a light jacket thing, an actual jacket, a weird sweater that zips up, a cardigan-y type sweater, a dress (that i might return), the things I bought for other people for Christmas, and if there's anything else...I don't remember...
At the West 49 stores that I go to, they all treat me like a VIP, it's kind of funny. They also all say "I wish I could win $1000 to somewhere". Haha..yeah
So...boredom in the summer paid off I guess!

If you don't enter you can't win!
